Windmill Palm 3-gallon Potted Plant

Description:
Windmill Palm is a hardy, evergreen palm that adds a tropical touch to your landscape while withstanding cold temperatures better than many other palm varieties. Known for its unique fan-shaped fronds and a stout, fibrous trunk, this palm grows up to 15–20 feet tall and 10–12 feet wide at maturity. Its dark green leaves provide a lush, tropical look, while its trunk, which is often covered in a fibrous material, gives the palm a distinctive appearance. Ideal for garden beds, container planting, or as a striking focal point, Windmill Palm is cold-hardy and can thrive in USDA Hardiness Zones 7–11.

Planting Instructions for Windmill Palm
Choose the Right Location:
Select a site with full sun to partial shade. While Windmill Palm can tolerate some shade, it performs best in a sunny spot. It thrives in well-draining soil but can tolerate various soil types, including clay, loamy, and sandy soils.
Hardiness zones: USDA 7–11.

Prepare the Soil:
Ensure the planting area has good drainage. If the soil is heavy or clay-like, amend it with compost or organic matter to improve drainage.

Dig the Hole:
Dig a hole about twice the width and just as deep as the root ball. Make sure the hole is large enough to accommodate the palm’s roots comfortably.

Planting:
Gently remove the palm from its container and loosen the roots if they are circling.
Place the palm in the hole so that the top of the root ball is level with the surrounding soil.
Backfill with soil and gently tamp it down to remove air pockets.

Water Thoroughly:
Water deeply after planting to help settle the soil around the roots. Keep the soil consistently moist for the first few weeks, but avoid waterlogging the area.

Mulch:
Apply a 2–3 inch layer of mulch around the base to conserve moisture, regulate temperature, and suppress weeds. Keep the mulch away from the trunk to prevent rot.

Care Tips for Windmill Palm
Watering: Water the palm regularly, especially in the first year, to ensure it establishes strong roots. Once established, it is drought-tolerant but benefits from occasional watering during dry spells.

Fertilizing: Apply a slow-release, balanced fertilizer in early spring to encourage healthy growth. Avoid over-fertilizing, as it can harm the roots.

Pruning: Prune only dead or damaged fronds. Windmill Palms have a natural, appealing appearance, so minimal pruning is required.

Pest and Disease Resistance: Windmill Palm is relatively pest- and disease-resistant. However, it may occasionally suffer from fungal issues if grown in overly damp conditions, so ensure good air circulation around the plant.

Windmill Palm is a cold-hardy, low-maintenance palm that offers year-round tropical appeal. Its unique appearance, adaptability to different climates, and ability to thrive in both sun and partial shade make it a standout addition to any garden or landscape. Whether used as a focal point, in a container, or as part of a mixed landscape, Windmill Palm provides a tropical vibe without the hassle.

The best devotional ever!
Format: Paperback
I have read many devotionals through the years in conjunction with the Bible. This one is the best of all of them. I first heard of Lilias Trotter when I bought my granddaughter the children's book about her: Lily: The Girl Who Could See by Sally Oxley, Tim Ladwig with Miriam Huffman Rockness. While waiting for it to arrive, I watched the movie/documentary about Lilias Trotter's life Many Beautiful Things(2015)(You can view it free on YouTube). Miriam Huffman Rockness is integral to the film and all the research on the late artist and missionary's life. The Lord spoke an urgency and determination to Miriam's heart in preserving the legacy of Lilias Trotter. Without Mrs. Rockness, I believe Lilias Trotter's art, journals, and mission work would have lingered and disappeared into relative obscurity. God made Lilias Trotter special and she lived her life for His glory and service. After watching the film, I downloaded Lilias Trotter's Parables of the Cross on Kindle. I loved it, but the kindle version didn't contain the artwork she'd completed to go with this book. Her art and her words go hand-in-hand. It left me wanting something with both. I decided to order this devotional. This is a triple blessing! It has excerpts from Lilias' journals and writings plus her artwork at the start of each devotional plus a daily devotional inspired by these. Miriam Huffman Rockness brings application to today and ties it to her own life of service. I know Lilias and Miriam will have great talks in eternity. Thank goodness we still have Miriam. I will be reading more of the books the Lilias Trotter Legacy group makes available.

Only Excerpts and Art in Book From Lilias Trotter
Format: Paperback
Lilias Trotter is one of my favorite authors. It is my own fault that I didn't read the title careful enough to realize that it's the authors own personal thoughts about things Lilias said or painted that is the main content of the book. She's a good writer and I appreciate her personal reflections, but it's not what I assumed. The printing is well done and it's always a gift to see Lilias artwork

Beautiful gift book.
Format: Paperback
The quotes stimulate me to journal my own thoughts. I bought one for myself and one for a friend. It would make a nice pairing with her biography, “Until the Day Breaks”.
